Who is Lewis?

Im a personal trainer at Anytime fitness southport. I want to empower
2.2lbs Baby
So from the very start of my life my parents weren’t given the best news, as I was born at 28 weeks and only 2.2lbs. not only this but they were told I would be badly brain damaged and wouldn’t walk or talk. Luckily for me they got this quite wrong, however they did say I would lack in coordination and concentration. So compared to kids my age I was behind on a lot of basic tasks like even sitting up as my back just couldn’t support my own body let alone walking and talking.
So this led me naturally feeling inferior in someway to the other kids growing up and I always felt like I had a point to prove. i went to physio at young age up until about 7 years old and not long after I started playing football at about 9. (My parents did try younger but I would just pick the ball up and run around the pitch) despite making it into a team I was still a bench warmer and lacked any technical ability any of the other kids had already deve
Sometimes it takes something called a ‘pain point’. This is something that has happened to you that is harsh enough to cause you to take action. For example for me and my life I started working for my dad doing roofing around the age of 16 and very quickly I realised how weak I was compared to other people around me and a comment was made to my dad by o someone at the builders. ‘Are you getting them from nursery now?’ This was about how skinny I was at the time and not long after that I started going to the gym. This comment took with me and was the reason I went when I didn’t want to and sure after a certain amount of time this wasn’t the reason I continued going to the gym it was now the enjoyment. So this was the ‘WHY’ behind me starting and I believe we all need a strong enough ‘why’ otherwise when you have one of those days that isn’t going your way and your ‘why’ behind going the gym is to get more toned, then its probably not going to happen.
This is probably going to be the hardest part for most people but once it is in your life it’s hard to imagine this not being a part of your life and enjoying the journey is going to get you further than reaching for the destination. This isn’t specific to the gym either it could be be anything you enjoy doing and that’s what I love about all the priciples I will be talking about is they can be adapted to all aspects of life.
strengths
After going to the gym for about 3 years I realised I was actually quite strong in comparison to my bodyweight. I have done some pretty impressive stuff with weights and even with bodyweight. This has lead me to starting climbing which plays to these strengths as the biggest advantages come from being strong and light.
This leads me to the last point form this blog is if you want something to stick and be the thing you don’t give up on then you need to enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy doing something then you are not going to stick to it. The things we tend to enjoy is the things we are somewhat good at to begin with. For example the reason I still climb is because I have good strength to my bodyweight which allows me to climb harder grades without the technique, however I enjoy learning to get better technique which keeps me invested into the sport, Same with the gym their is so many different ways you can progress in everything you enjoy but please don’t do something because everyone else seems to enjoy it.
Play by your own rules.
